Spent the first two weeks at the Bear...Weather was nice, and cooled off substantially at the end of our stay. Did some appliance painting, as well as general clean-up. Spent time in Raleigh, NC which is very nice, and a day trip to Old Salem, NC.

Spent two weeks at the Bear relaxing. Finally had the new retaining wall, walkway and driveway installed and it came out great. Will upload pictures shortly. Enjoyed the hot tub, and had a great meal at Makotos in Boone.

Spent a nice long week-end at A Happy Bear Chalet. Got in Thursday afternoon. Weather was crisp with snow on the ground. Friday we went and met with a contractor to improve the wall and the entrance. We are debating the style still but work should be done in the spring. We also went top Boone and purchased a Hot Tub! Installation is scheduled for early January. Snow feel all day Saturday and thanks to the chains we had no trouble leaving on Sunday.

Looking forward to next week's trip to A Happy Bear Chalet. We are meeting with our contractor to plan out the wall restoration and walkway improvement. Should make access much better. We are also bringing up a Fireplace for the basement and a 27" lcd TV. This will allow us to move the 35" TV upstairs and retire the old 20" from the Queen bedroom. Michael

Drove up for a short visit last Thursday only to get snowed in at a Happy Bear Chalet. Brought enough food and beer, so it was quite peaceful. Walked in the snow. Stayed warm inside, kept the fireplace going, watched dvds. Town plowed the roads so after digging out the car I had little trouble getting to the main road. Skiing and Tubing with this kind of snow would be great.

Just spent a wonderful four days at A Happy Bear Chalet. Drove to Orlando Sanford Airport and flew Allegiant Air into Tri-Cities. An hour later we were in banner Elk eating at Sorentos. Friday we got supplies in Boone, and then took a 2.5 mile hike (saw one deer). Saturday we tried the Hawksnest Zipline. What an experience, not for those with fear of heights. Later, we went to the Rock to watch ASU defeat the Mocs. College football is very exciting and ASU has a chance to go all the way again (3 time champs 05-07). Awoke to a warm day Sunday, hitting 70! Another great trip. We added a new microwave, more dvds, set up the Christmas Tree and met with a contractor to improve access. Can't wait to go back.

Just spent two weeks a A Happy Bear Chalet. Was nice and relaxing. Weather was espcially nice the first week, with no rain the first week. Discovered that the Town of Seven devils now offers free tennis so we pciked up two rackets for the house. Also, Hawksnest has added a two mile Scream Time Zip Line course, but it won't open until July 1. Went white water rafting on teh French broad, Class III and Class IV. Also went Horseback Riding at Banner Elk Stables. House improvements included a new floor lamp shaped like a tree trunk with two bears climbing the sides, a new 32" TV with DVD upstairs, and a DVR for the main floor bedroom. We also planted 4 Leyland Cypress to add privacy along the bottom of the property. We also painted the lower storm door green, came out nice so the front storm door will be next. Michael

We stayed at the Happy Bear Chalet Jan 1-4. Great location! We felt like we were centrally located to everything we wanted to do that week. Loved the layout of the house. Loved the views. Can't wait to go back next year!

Spent our first Christmas at A Happy Bear Chalet. Weather was cold but no snow. By Christmas Day it was a balmy 52, warm enough for hot coffee on the deck. Went skiing at Beech Mountain, wasn't crowded at all. Can't wait to go back. Michael

Spent a wonderful Thanksgiving Week at the Happy Bear Chalet. Snowed on Monday, but warmed up the rest of the week. Saw seven deer running by the house on Tuesday. Checked out Hawksnest to see the tubing expansion and it is four times the size of last year. No kidding when they say its the biggest on the East Coast.
